Dolomite ranges from white to shades of pink, yellow, gray or even brown or black when iron is present in the crystal. With a hardness of 6-8, its lustre is pearly to vitreous and it has a beautiful transparent surface. Dolomite is associated with calcite, sulfide ore minerals, fluorite, barite, quartz and occasionally with gold.
