Meet Keith - The Birdwoods Kiwi

Say hello to Keith, our iconic Birdwoods Kiwi. The ultimate New Zealand bird and our unofficial national mascot, Keith is everything we “Kiwis” adore. Beloved across Aotearoa, Keith and his kiwi friends have proudly put New Zealand on the global birding map and are widely considered one of the country’s most treasured species.

A shy nighttime wanderer, Keith is found throughout the country, though he’s especially at home on predator-free sanctuaries and places like Stewart Island. With little talent for flying, Keith faces challenges from introduced predators such as stoats and possums — which makes it all the more important for us to help protect him and his whānau. Keeping Keith safe is a duty most New Zealanders happily embrace.

Handcrafted in Arrowtown by our Birdwoods ceramics team, each Kiwi is individually shaped from white porcelain and carefully glazed to bring out its own unique character.
